The books are in good condition considering their age and are in original cloth with gilt illustrations to front covers and the book spines. The spines of both books are somewhat faded with slight nicking at spine ends.
Binding is tight, all pages are clean with no writing or drawing except for a short inscription on the inside front page of The Red Romance Book as shown. There are also foxspots to endpapers, textblock and some page margins slightly grubby.
